A Sweet Tooth’s Paradise
Starting our tour in Sandestin, take your taste for homemade goodies over to The Candymaker. True to their name, they make treats daily, including fresh taffy and fudge that will make your day. They also offer candy apples, pralines and a diverse supply of other delicacies that are hard to find in typical retail outlets.
Speaking of outlets, apparently the Silver Sands Premium Outlets in Miramar Beach aren’t limited to discounted apparel and accessories. Swing by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to check out their selection of gift baskets, and then reward your generosity with a little something for yourself.
Like things sticky and crunchy? Then continue your exploration at Pecan Jack’s Ice Creamery & Candy Kitchen in Santa Rosa Beach and browse their amazing selection of pralines, toffee and brittle. You may try to restrain yourself and keep it to tiny nibbles, but pretty soon you’ll be breaking off bigger and bigger pieces (don’t worry – we won’t judge).
Continuing our tour, The Candy Bar in Seaside combines ice cream and candy offerings to please everyone. While their selection is quite extensive, one thing to note is their impressive gummy selection, including a giant gummy pizza!
Located in Seacrest, The Sweet Peddler is a fun and funky little spot to browse a variety of treats including a very big Jelly Belly vending machine. For something cooler, take your pick from 12 flavors of ice cream.
Right across from the post office in Rosemary Beach is a little place that truly delivers. In fact, The Sugar Shak is the oldest business here in the neighborhood – a true testament to the endurance of a sweet tooth. This cute shop combines classic cravings with new-school nibbles that will keep you finding an excuse to “go buy some stamps.”
These options are just the tip of the iceberg (or sprinkles on the sundae) when it comes to candy stores. You can also expand your sweetness intake with an equally delicious dessert tour of South Walton. Just be mindful of moderation and try to pace yourself. Whenever you need a break, you can take some time to relax… where else? On our sugar-white sand, of course.
