First Timer's Guide to Seaside
As a first-time visitor to Seaside, here's what you need to know:
A model of the New Urbanist design movement, every piece of Seaside was carefully planned for the perfect beach experience. This paradise’s purposeful layout makes it easy to walk or bike wherever you're headed. Plus, with a nice beach breeze, it's practical and enjoyable.
Ready to start exploring? Walk along the sugar-white sand beach and soak up the beauty of the turquoise Gulf water on one side and pastel beach cottages on the other. Hungry? Make a pit stop for hot dogs or shaved ice at the row of retro Airstream trailer food trucks in the heart of the neighborhood, or lounge for a while at acclaimed restaurants like Bud & Alley's or Great Southern Café.
After lunch, make your way toward world-class art galleries like Anne Hunter Gallery or Amore by the Sea and take in paintings, photos, sculptures, and more. Escape into boutiques and open-air marketplaces like Cabana by The Seaside Style and The Art of Simple featuring fashion and accessories, local crafts, and unique gifts.
While you’re enjoying everything Seaside has to offer, we encourage you to help preserve what makes it so special. Supporting local shops and eateries is a great way to contribute to the vibrant culture while you’re here. Also be sure to dispose of any trash properly, respect local homes and shared spaces, and be mindful of community guidelines. With rows of picture-perfect houses surrounded by natural beauty, Seaside feels as if you brought the best version of Main Street, U.S.A., to the beach. The iconic whitewashed post office, the striking and colorful homes, and the endless activities (not to mention the restaurants and the beach) make Seaside one of the most recognizable destinations around.
To help keep Seaside safe and enjoyable for all guests during the busy season, Seaside will enforce a 7 p.m. CST curfew for unaccompanied minors (18 and under) during the Fourth of July holiday week (June 28 through July 4). This measure helps maintain the family-friendly atmosphere Seaside is known for. Questions? You can access the most up-to-date information on SeasideFL.com.
During your trip to Seaside, be sure to slow your pace a bit and soak it all in. Splurge on an extra topping at Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs, mingle with neighbors at the Seaside Farmers’ Market, or connect with a local musician at Central Square Records. In a thoughtfully crafted town like Seaside, it’s easy to make lasting memories.
