First Timer's Guide to Grayton Beach

Visiting Grayton Beach for the first time? Here’s what you need to know.

Bustling with local culture, this upscale beach destination is home to art galleries, unique shops, live music, and more. When visiting “downtown” Grayton Beach, pick up some local art for your walls from Zoo Gallery and catch a backyard concert at Tribe Kelley. For more artistic satisfaction, stroll by the Grayt Wall of Art –creative residents have turned an everyday fence into a corridor of Grayton Beach art, lined with inspired works from area painters.

Looking for the best places to fish in Grayton Beach? Hop on a charter fishing boat and reel in the catch of the day. Grayton Beach fishing charters launch directly from the sugar-white sand beach for a one-of-a-kind angling experience.

After soaking up the sun at Grayton Beach State Park or paddle boarding in Western Lake, refuel with some delicious Grayton Beach food. Start your morning with some of the best breakfast in Grayton Beach at Black Bear Bread Co. or Crackings. If you plan to sleep in, Grayton Seafood Company is a brunch favorite! Lunch at Chanticleer Eatery is a must, or save your appetite for dinner at Hurricane Oyster Bar & Grill.

Wondering where to see live music in Grayton Beach? Visit The Red Bar or AJ’s for great food, live music, and an essential taste of 30A nightlife. While the restaurants’ parking spaces are limited, the free Grayton Beach Tram makes your night out as easy as it is fun.

The new Beach Tram facility is located across from Hurricane Oyster Bar and transports guests to and from the beach access by Chiringo and The Red Bar. The facility offers 204 free parking spaces plus restrooms and an air-conditioned waiting area filled with Walton County-inspired artwork. The complimentary tram runs daily from 6 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. (or as needed). Learn more here.

When you’re ready for a break from the beach, try your hand creating your own original work of art. The Shops of Grayton is home to the Shard Shop and Rock, Paper, Scissors 30A, both of which offer interactive art experiences tailored to the whole family. You’ll also find former 2013 Artist of the Year Andy Saczynski’s gallery, home to his unique take on assemblage art.

After one trip to Grayton Beach, you’ll feel like a local and realize why visitors come back year after year. Start planning a trip to Grayton Beach today!
